Dave BrubeckDesignated a “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress,
NEA Jazz Master pianist Dave Brubeck continues to be one of the most active and popular musicians in both the jazz and classical worlds.  With a career that spans over six decades, his experiments in unusual time signatures and contrasting rhythms, meters and tonalities remain hallmarks of musical innovation.   In 1959 Brubeck’s “Time Out” became the first jazz album to sell over a million copies, with the classic title track (now in the Grammy Hall of Fame) appearing on jukeboxes around the world.  He was elected into the Down Beat Hall of Fame in 1994.

Kurt Elling
Vocalist Kurt Elling's limber and rich baritone spans four octaves and is at home in a myriad of styles, from scat, Latin and pop to poetry.  His wide artistic range put him at the top of the Down Beat and JazzTimes critics’ polls three years in a row as Best Male Singer.  Elling has performed with an array of artists including Terrance Blanchard, Dave Brubeck, Al Jarreau, Jon Hendricks and Marian McPartland, among others.
